WWDC 2026: Software and AI Overhaul
Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 kicks off on June 8 with a keynote unveiling iOS 27, macOS 27, and other platform updates. The highlight is a major Siri overhaul powered by AI, giving the assistant chatbot capabilities similar to ChatGPT or Claude. Siri will get a standalone app and deeper integration into the iPhone's Dynamic Island. Apple Intelligence will bring AI editing to Photos, a new Siri mode in Camera for visual intelligence, and a wallpaper generation tool.
September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Fold, and More
The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, a variable aperture main lens for DSLR-like control, an A20 Pro chip on Apple's 2nm process, and the company's C2 modem. A special dark cherry color is expected. Alongside it, Apple's first foldable iPhone (rumored as “iPhone Fold”) will debut with a 5.3-inch external display folding to 7.6 inches, a book-style design resembling an iPad mini when open, and an ultra-thin 4.5mm profile. It may lack Face ID, using Touch ID in the power button, and could cost up to $2,500. Other September launches include the Apple Watch Series 12 (minor chip refresh), iPad mini 8 with OLED display and A20 chip, a new HomePod mini with updated S-series chip (dependent on Siri improvements), the Home Hub (a smart home command center with a 7-inch display that docks or mounts), and an Apple TV 4K with A17 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence support.
Late 2026: OLED MacBook Pro and Smart Home Camera
Toward the end of 2026, Apple is expected to launch a revamped touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro with an M6 2nm chip, a hole-punch camera (no notch), and a reinforced hinge for touch interactions. An Apple-branded indoor security camera compatible with HomeKit and the new Home Hub could also arrive.
Products with Unknown Release Dates
Several products are in development but lack hard timelines. The Mac Studio will get M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, delayed by memory constraints. A Mac mini with M5/M5 Pro chips is in testing, as is an M5 Max iMac (possibly reviving the iMac Pro). The low-cost iPad 12 will get an A19 chip. AirPods 5 and AirPods Pro (with H3 chip and IR camera for gestures) are being developed. An Apple Watch Ultra 4 is planned, but no details yet. Apple is also working on AI-powered smart glasses (no display) to rival Meta's Ray-Bans, possibly previewed in 2026 for a 2027 launch.
2027 and Beyond
Apple is shifting to a split iPhone launch strategy: premium models (iPhone 18 Pro and foldable) in September 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will arrive in spring 2027. The iPhone Air 2 (with dual cameras) is also delayed to spring 2027. A 20th Anniversary iPhone in September 2027 will feature a curved glass enclosure, under-display selfie camera, and no bezels. The iPad Pro will get an M6 chip in 2027, and the iMac will gain an OLED display. AirPods Max will be refreshed with an H2 chip. Apple's tabletop robot (J595) with a robotic arm and swivel base is expected in 2027.
